We have made it to New Zealand! The land of the people who actually speak English. FINALLY!! New Zealand is pretty similar to Colorado, except for one thing. The giant mountains run straight into the ocean. It’s not every day you get to see such a sight like that! New Zealand is such a pretty place and compared to all of the other places we’ve gone to; it is SILENT! It is so quiet, and it’s such a nice break from the loud city’s that we have been visiting!
In New Zealand, it’s a big thing to get fish and chips, so naturally, we got fish and chips. I don’t like fish, but the fish here is better than I’ve ever had before!
Also in New Zealand, there is a rugby team called the All Blacks, and there are pretty cool. So they do dances called haka’s before they compete against the other team. It’s pretty much a dance where they yell a whole ton and scare the crap out of the other team. It definitely scares me!
On the second week, we were here, my dad found a 5k race through a giant park, so he signed out our entire family. We started the race with running together, but after two minutes, Ava and I were ahead of Brie, mom, and dad. Fast forward in time, I ended up finishing 13 in women’s and 17 overall out of 45 people! Ava ended getting 10 in women’s! My mom was laughing when she, dad, and Brie came through the finish line like 5 minutes later because we were going against people twice our age and we beat them by a lot! My mom also said that id Ava and I went off without them in the start, we could’ve made it into the top 10 overall! So long story short, I think that Ava and I we natural born runners!
New Zealand is such a beautiful place, and really wish that we were going to stay for more than three weeks. But I am exited to discover more of the world aftre New Zealand!
