After months and months of planning, we’ve made it. As soon as we jumped off the plane, there was an overwhelming waft of heat. Unlike Colorado, Sibiu is super humid and hot 24/7. BLEH, NOT FUN. We then got through customs and made through the short, 5-minute bus ride, we head to the apartment.
The Airbnb that my parents booked ended being on the top floor of the building. đ We had to walk up all these stairs with our huge backpacks, (I almost fell over like a million times), and when we got to the top floor the door was stuck.
After we got it open, the apartment was all white and pretty. There was a nice, cute balcony, which we later found out that there was a big hornet’s nest in that wall (I didn’t go back out there for the rest of our stay), and a spiral staircase leading up to the two upstairs bedrooms. I ended up sleeping on this creaky, old pullout couch, Amanda on two couch cushions, and Brie and my parents were in the two upstairs bedrooms.
The next day we took a walk around this big square in the center of Sibiu and across the bridge of lies. (Don’t worry I didn’t lie on the bridge so I’m safe, I know you were worried!) Pretty much everywhere you looked there was an ice cream stand or a Gelato place. Awesome, right?
We stop to eat lunch at what looked like a good place in the middle of the square. We ordered two different pizzas and drinks. After playing games and waiting for at least an hour, we looked at the restaurant reviews to see if any other people said the food takes forever to get and apparently the service is terrible here and of all the places we could’ve sat at, we chose this place. “Fun” đ
After waiting for another 15 or so minutes, we got the pizza; but the crazy thing is, it’s not even that good. We naturally ordered pizzas with multiple ingredients all together and the pizzas had the ingredients on sections, not together. Either way, we still ate everything.
After checking out every gelato place near us we headed back to the apartment to end our first full day in Romania.
