Tallinn Beach

Tallinn, Estonia

Posted on May 1, 2019 by Amanda

We have reached Tallinn, Estonia! Tallinn is a town in Estonia of around about 426,000 people, so quite a bit smaller than other cities we’ve stayed in. The Airbnb that we are staying in, is actually pretty nice! It has two floors. On the first floor, there is a bathroom, a living room, and a small kitchen. On the upper floor, there is two bedrooms and another bathroom, so it is just enough space to fit our entire family. The Airbnb is only about two miles away from the beach, so we decided to go down and see if there was any sea glass. I think we spent a couple of hours at the beach! We found a long strip of rocks that went along the edge of the beach, so, naturally, we walked like turtles along it until we got to the end. We ended up finding a lot of different types of sea glass, which was unexpected because Tallinn is in a bay so there aren’t really any waves.

Since Spain, we have always wanted to find a pink piece of sea glass. Apparently, in Tallinn, there is a ton of it! Almost half of our finds were pink! Also since Spain, my mom has wanted to find a black-purple piece of sea glass. Black-purple means that when it isn’t held up to a light, it is black, but when held up to a light, you can see purple. My dad found a small black-purple piece when we were in New Zealand, but when we were on the beach here, we found at least five black-purple pieces!

When we went to the beach for the first time, we weren’t expecting any sea glass, so we didn’t come prepared with any bags or anything. We had to leave earlier than we would have because there was no room left in any of our jacket pockets! We plan to go back to that beach one more time before we leave, but if we don’t find time to go, it will be ok because I think we already have too much to carry in our bags. We have already had to get rid of over half of the glass we found!

In the end, though, I am really happy that I was able to see Tallinn! I am going to be sad to leave, but that just means that I get to explore some new places before we have to head back home!

  • are the pieces of sea glass that I found! There is more, but these are the ones that I decided to keep! 🙂
  • We filled about 1/4 of this bread bag with the glass that we aren’t going to keep!
